Campaigns and discount codes

Use Campaigns to create sales discounts that apply automatically or are activated with a code. You can limit an offer to specific dates, times, customers, categories, or products.

Prerequisites

  • The Campaigns app is available to the business, and your role can create campaigns.
  • The products and categories included in the campaign are active and have the correct prices.
  • You have decided on the discount, validity period, usage limits, and where the campaign will appear.

What you will learn

  • the difference between a standard campaign, coupon code, and partner offer
  • how to create and target a discount campaign
  • how to add discount codes after saving a campaign
  • how to check activity, redemptions, and revenue

There are two surfaces called Campaigns. This guide covers discounts and coupon codes in the Campaigns app. AI Marketing → Campaigns is used for Facebook, Instagram, and email content; it does not calculate discounts for an order.

Choose the right type

TypeWhen to use it
StandardThe discount should apply automatically when the time and conditions are met.
Coupon codeThe customer must enter a code before the discount applies.
PartnerThe offer applies to customers in an active partnership and is created from Partnerships.

Create a campaign

  1. Open the Campaigns app.
  2. Select the Management tab.
  3. Select Create campaign.
  4. Choose a template, such as a welcome discount, lunch discount, happy hour, weekend offer, or one-time code. Choose a custom campaign if none of the templates fit.
  5. Enter a clear name and, optionally, an internal description.
  6. Choose percentage or fixed amount, then enter the discount value.
  7. Choose a start and end date. Add times and weekdays if the offer should apply only during certain periods.
  8. Choose whether the discount applies to all products, specific categories, or specific products.
  9. Optionally add a minimum order value, maximum discount, total usage limit, limit per customer, or new customers only.
  10. Choose whether the campaign should appear in the widget and at events.
  11. Check whether the campaign should be active immediately, then save.

If you target categories or products, you must select at least one item. Also verify that the end date is after the start date before saving.

Add a discount code

Add the code after creating a coupon campaign.

  1. Open Campaigns → Management.
  2. Select the Coupon filter or find the campaign under All.
  3. Open the campaign card and select Add code.
  4. Enter the code and save. The code is normalized to uppercase.
  5. Copy the code and test it in the customer journey where it will be used.

You can add several codes, copy an existing code, or delete a code from the campaign card.

A Kiosk customer who is not signed in cannot be identified in the same way as a known customer. Coupon codes with a per-customer limit may therefore be rejected in this flow. Always test the chosen restriction in the actual sales channel.

Visibility in the widget, at events, and on Advertising Display

  • Show in widget allows the offer to be presented in the customer’s ordering widget.
  • Show at event makes order discounts available at a booth. A product discount applies only to products imported from the menu.
  • Advertising Display can show active campaigns when the campaign is visible in the widget and Show active campaigns is enabled in the display’s device settings.

Visibility does not mean that every customer automatically receives the discount. Date, time, scope, order value, and usage-limit requirements must also be met.

Manage campaigns

Under Management, you can filter by All, Standard, Coupon, and Partner. Regular campaigns can be edited or deleted. Partner offers have their own actions and are created from an active partnership.

Before changing a campaign that is already in use, check how the change affects advertising, customer communications, and active codes.

Track results

Open the Dashboard tab to see information including:

  • total redemptions
  • unique customers
  • total discount
  • revenue after discounts
  • performance, average order value, and available return data for each campaign

A campaign with no activity is not necessarily broken. First check its validity period, status, sales channel, targeting, and whether the customer meets the conditions.

Common problems

The campaign is not applied to the order

  • check that it is active and within the configured date, time, and weekdays
  • check the selected products or categories
  • check the minimum order value and usage limits
  • check that the customer is new if New customers only is selected

The discount code is rejected

  • check the spelling and that the code belongs to the correct campaign
  • check whether the code or campaign has reached a usage limit
  • test whether the sales channel can identify the customer when there is a per-customer limit

I can find only social media campaigns

You are probably in AI Marketing → Campaigns. Return to the app overview and open Campaigns for discounts, coupon codes, and partner offers.
